Child Sexual Assault Prevention
Parents, caregivers, educators, and providers need to become educated about sexual abuse in order to help children reduce their risk of victimization. It is essential to initiate discussions about safety with children and to take time to reinforce safety messages and rules at home, school, daycare, etc.
Self Defense
Taking a self-defense course is our response to fear, helplessness, and the sense of powerlessness caused by the pervasive violence that surrounds us all. A variety of classes have been designed to educate people on the philosophy behind self-defense, through physical techniques such as, combinations and floor work using releases, strikes and kicks.
Personal Safety
Working to end sexual violence is the responsibility of all of us. Society plays a vital role in this endeavor. Everyone can help by taking a hard and painful look at the attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate sexual violence, and then assess how these behaviors and attitudes support rape and/or child sexual abuse. The Women’s Center of San Joaquin County offers a comprehensive prevention education program which strives to empower children and adults by teaching them to recognize potentially harmful situations and what skills to use for self-protection.
Rape Prevention
This workshop focuses on important issues about rape and its prevention. The Program is facilitated by the Women’s Center of San Joaquin County and made possible by the California Department of Health Services and San Joaquin County Office of Education.
